ANESTHESIA
All About Gynecomastia:
There are three choices for anesthesia: local, IV sedation, and general. Most of the time patients prefer having this done under general anesthesia. With new developments in anesthesia, patients wake up quickly and are almost never nauseated. Men’s chests are frequently very sensitive to pain, so it appears that a more thorough and complete improvement can be done when men are asleep. But if there is just a little “nubbin” of breast tissue beneath the nipple, then that can usually be removed very comfortably under local anesthesia. Dr. Teitelbaum has experience using all three types of anesthesia for gynecomastia, and he will give you all the options that he thinks is appropriate for your condition.
